On the 1st of March 2017 Joanne woke up and didn’t know what her name was, she didn’t know what she was going to do in her life and career let alone what the coming weeks would bring.

Join Joanne as she talks about her 30-year IT career, with the later 25 years running her own IT companies through the ups and downs of being a Small Business owner. She will then talk about how she had to overcome her deep-seated sense of imposter syndrome and limiting beliefs to regenerate herself to become a well-respected and sought-after professional speaker, facilitator and trainer in the Diversity and Inclusion field where she works with organisations of all size across the globe.

During this talk, Joanne will give a heartfelt and authentic account of her personal and entrepreneurial journey with anecdotes from her life about what sparked her and what held her back. The circumstances leading up to selling her IT business and the challenges she faced starting her new career.

Joanne will go on to:

  • Explain how people can make her feel included by the language they use
  • Talk about the power of having allies in society and the workplace
  • Highlight how she overcame the negative thoughts holding her back
  • Showing the importance of building an inclusive workplace culture
  • Promote the power of leaders in setting the culture of inclusion.

After attending this talk, you should leave with an understanding of the world through Joanne’s lens, develop tools and strategies to support friends, family and colleagues who may be going through their own struggle and journey and – most importantly – be entertained, inspired and enlightened.

Following the presentation Joanne will be around for an open Q&A where you can challenge her with your thoughts or maybe event ask her for some ideas on how you can tackle your own challenges.
