🔍 General FAQs (All Sectors)
1. What is the purpose of the Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusion Diagnostic?
It helps organisations assess their readiness and maturity in supporting trans and nonbinary people through policy, culture, language, systems, and leadership. The diagnostic provides an actionable maturity-level snapshot – from compliance through to best practice.
2. What does the Toolkit include?
The Toolkit offers policy templates, inclusive language guides, onboarding and training support, real-world case studies, and recommended actions for different maturity levels across your organisation.
3. Who should complete the Diagnostic?
Ideally, a cross-functional team should complete it – HR, DEI, people managers, comms, ERGs. Separate inputs from different departments can reveal blind spots and areas of disconnect.
4. Is this Toolkit only for organisations with out trans staff?
Not at all. Inclusion must be proactive. Many trans and nonbinary people are not out at work. This Toolkit builds the psychological safety needed for people to thrive authentically.
5. Is this Toolkit compliant with UK legislation?
Yes. It aligns with the Equality Act 2010, Gender Recognition Act 2004, and the latest case law (including the 2025 For Women Scotland ruling). It’s built on EHRC and ACAS guidance and evolves with the law.
6. Do I need a separate policy for trans employees?
Not necessarily, but you need clear provisions in your existing policies to support: name/pronoun use, changing records, privacy, facilities access, and dress code adjustments. The Toolkit provides guidance and templates.
