A microaggression is a subtle but offensive comment or action directed at a minority or marginalized group. These actions often take the form of unconscious bias, and can be difficult to recognize. They can be either intentional or unintentional, but they can still have a harmful impact on the recipient. Many people who engage in microaggressions don't understanding their impact.
Inclusive recruitment is one important way to address the lack of diversity. By definition, inclusive recruitment is the process of recruiting a diverse pool of candidates for a job, with a focus on ensuring that all candidates have an equal opportunity to succeed - not just through equality but more importantly equity, ensuring people have the support they need to guide them through the process.
Anxiety is a common feeling, and it can be difficult to cope with. For some people, this can lead to anxiety in the workplace. Fear of failure is normal and can be used as a motivator. It's important to acknowledge and accept anxiety in order to lessen its power. Healthy coping mechanisms include exercise, relaxation techniques, socializing, and focusing on positive thoughts. If symptoms continue after trying these methods, it may be necessary to seek professional help.
