Can we bring our whole selves to work?
Categories: Allyship Lunch and Learn LGBTQ+
Psychological safety is important because it allows team members to feel comfortable being themselves and sharing their ideas. When team members feel safe, they are more likely to take risks and be creative, which can lead to better outcomes for the team as a whole.
In this interactive and engaging session, Joanne Lockwood speaks about her own experiences and battles where she has been in a workplace environment where she wasn’t able to “bring her whole self to work” and didn’t experience a feeling of psychological safety. She will talk about how you can identify the signs, examine your culture and take steps to ensure people feel a deep sense of inclusion and belonging.
Key Points:
- Defining what psychological safety is.
- Understanding why psychological safety is important.
- Creating ground rules for your workplace.
- How to encourage open communication.
- Modelling the behaviour you want to see from your team.
Following the presentation, Joanne will be around for an open Q&A where you can challenge her with your thoughts or maybe even ask her for some ideas on how you can tackle your own challenges.
